The Human Resources Manager is responsible for executing both the day-to-day and strategic functions of Human Resources, with a strong emphasis on accuracy, compliance, and attention to detail. This role oversees core HR operations including recruitment, payroll, benefits, leave administration, policy enforcement, employee wellbeing and employee relations. Reporting to the CEO and Managing Principals, the Human Resources Manager manages all aspects of HR while serving as a trusted partner to leadership and employees. The position ensures coordination of HR activities, compliance with applicable labor laws, and alignment with firm policies and procedures. This role balances detailed transactional work with broader organizational initiatives, supporting performance management, talent development, workplace safety, recognition, and employee engagement. The Human Resources Manager builds positive internal and external stakeholder relationships and actively participates in leadership discussions to support consistent, compliant, and rewarding employee experience. This position can be 32 - 40 hours per week, and optional remote work on Monday and Fridays. Partner with firm leadership to foster a supportive, compliant, and high-performing work culture. Develop, implement, and administer HR plans, policies, procedures, and annual departmental budgets in collaboration with the CEO and CFO. Manage full-cycle recruiting efforts of at least 2-3 hires per year in partnership with leadership, aligning staffing needs with firm goals. Coordinate interviews, conduct background and reference checks, and manage the onboarding and orientation experience. Serve as a trusted advisor to employees and managers, providing guidance on employee relations, performance management, and workplace concerns. Work closely with the CFO to administer bi-weekly payroll processing and maintain accurate employee data within the HRIS (Paylocity). Compile and reconcile payroll data, including earnings, deductions, garnishments, benefits, and retirement contributions. Serve as primary point of contact for benefits vendors and third-party administrators. Coordinate all benefits processes, including enrollments, changes, terminations, COBRA, disability, and claims administration. Reconcile benefit invoices and maintain accurate benefits records and payroll integrations. Manage all aspects of workforce planning, including recruitment, onboarding, off-boarding, performance management, and organizational planning. Lead and participate in employee relations matters, including investigations, disciplinary actions, and terminations, as needed. Manage employee records, timekeeping approvals, onboarding workflows, and benefit enrollment events within Paylocity. Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws, firm policies, and required training programs (e.g., safety, anti-harassment, licensure, certifications). Maintain awareness of HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies. Partner with the CEO to establish compensation packages, negotiate offers, and issue offer letters. Participate in compensation analysis reviews and offer leadership guidance. Travel periodically to firm offices in Manchester, NH; Portland, ME; and Boston, MA. Supervisory Responsibilities None Requirements BA or BS in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field 3+ years of experience, preferably within a professional services industry Multi-state HR experience within the Northeast Deadline oriented self-starter with excellent time management, communication, listening, and organizational skills Must be detail oriented with ability to find and correct discrepancies Comfortability with changing priorities and situations – ability to flex when needed Proficient in Microsoft Office suite and familiar with HR systems and software; preferably Paylocity Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills Preferred Skills and Experience Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification
