ABOUT THE HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGER

We are seeking a strong leader to lead Talent, shape an optimal people value proposition and manage the day-to-day HR Function for MAD Elevator Inc – a pivotal role in continuing to shaping our people to be experts in our business. Team Leading:

  • Be a mentor to the HR team members, develop them in their learning and application of the job and make sure they have everything they need to do their best and be successful.
  • Provide training and support to other team members of the human resources department.
  • Prepare and conduct annual performance reviews, calibrating with your Manager prior to conversations. Also, complete periodic check-ins with team members.
  • Foster and nurture an open, collaborative, positive and inclusive environment for the team.
  • Ensure all team members work responsibly, coming and leaving work on time and delivering projects and tasks reliably.
  • Collaborate and engage with Team to ensure workload is managed, continually looking for ways to improve team efficiency and productivity.
  • Bi-weekly meetings with your leader to discuss team efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage team members time off requests in line with team workload and capacity.
  • Communicate issues in a timely manner and resolve as needed
Responsibilities

AT A GLANCE, THIS POSITION WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR:

  • Strategic HR Leadership: Provide expertise and guidance to management teams, covering a spectrum of HR areas from employee relations to legislative compliance.
  • Recruitment & Retention: Champion full-cycle recruitment, ensuring processes that attract and retain top talent.
  • Employee Relations: Partner with line managers to address HR challenges and design strategies that boost experience.
  • Onboarding and Offboarding Experience: Drive positive Employee experience with effective onboarding and ongoing development for engagement and retention.
  • External Relations: Foster relationships with external entities, including government organizations.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and grow HR talent to become experts.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Generate essential reports to guide your strategic decision making.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING IN THE ROLE:

  • Recruitment Management:
  • Managing and continuously evaluating the recruitment and selection process, assessment and follow up.
  • Developing recruitment strategies.
  • Resource planning.
  • Recruiting and screening for niche or leadership roles.
  • Employee Relations:
  • Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital.
  • Performance conversations, terminations, investigations, and documentation.
  • Develop relationships with employees and managers as a trusted advisor, helping managers build and maintain high performing teams.
  • Maintain the Employee Engagement Survey, pulse and interpret data to actions with leaders.
  • Overseeing Employee Onboarding and Offboarding:
  • Ensuring HR Team collects all new hire paperwork and exiting documents for payroll processing accurately and on time.
  • New Hire orientations are scheduled timely.
  • Follow ups with Managers/ Supervisors for orientation, training and checklists completion.
  • Reviewing probationary review follow-ups and extensions as needed.
  • Overseeing Employment changes:
  • Collaborate with leaders in the business for change recommendations.
  • Support with reviewing letters and administering changes.
  • Leave of Absence reviews and Return to Work follow up.
  • Support and maintain foreign workers for retention and hiring decisions.
  • Employee HR and H&S Training Compliance:
  • Reviewing and assisting with creating training, guides, learning kits.
  • Facilitate training as required in compliance to timeline.
  • Manage a performance management system that drives high engagement:
  • Maintain, review and coach leadership to set successful actions to drive a high Employee Engagement.
  • Coach, train leaders to provide continual and annual performance management.
  • Develop and maintain sound relationships with management to understand business needs and deliver effective and efficient HR services.
  • Legislative Compliance:
  • Keep apprised of changes and affect revisions to policies and implementation.
  • Filing of various Compliance reports including not limited to AODA.
  • Learning and Development:
  • Assessing gaps, providing learning to support the organizational growth.
  • Developing leadership guides, HR knowledge and tools for use.
  • Supporting for succession planning.
  • Total rewards, Compensation and Benefits:
  • Maintaining rewards, service awards and bonus plans.
  • Support in escalations.
  • Provide employee sessions in understanding our benefits.
  • Review of annual increases, market bench.
  • Subsidies:
  • Drive use of subsidies for hiring, training across all business entities.
  • Policies and Procedures:
  • Enforcing and reviewing policies and creating guidelines vs policies.
  • Designing/ updating new HR policies, guidelines, procedures, including the employee handbook.
  • Communicating updates and changes to all employees.
  • Health & Safety:
  • Review and maintain a good TRIR and processes.
  • Return to Work follow up and confirmation of Modified work, accommodations.
  • Review and sign as needed - customer requests for WSIB clearances, Form 1000, Cert of Insurance when needed.
  • Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Projects.
  • HR Metrics, Reporting, projects and other duties as assigned.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, or an associated discipline, or equivalent experience
  • Designation in CHRP or CHRL an asset
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in manufacturing as a true generalist a must
  • Minimum 7 years’ HR experience with a strong grasp of HR best practices
  • At least 2 years of experience managing a small HR team an asset
  • Experience with ADP Workforce Now an asset
  • Experience with payroll an asset
  • Experience with USA entities and USA HR best practices an asset
  • Experience with international hiring and best practices an asset
  • In tune with the changes in Legislative Compliance and Employment Law
  • Demonstrated strong organizational (self and team) and written communication skills
  • Flexible and adaptable
  • Privacy and sensitivity of information requiring discretion, and effective interpersonal skills, including tactfulness, persistence, assertiveness and strong listening skills
  • Must be able to effectively interact with leaders and employees at all levels
  • Detail and results-oriented, ability to find solutions and close tasks
  • Exceptional planning, time-management, organizational and follow-through skills
  • Computer aptitude and demonstrated experience in reports, Intermediate MS Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
