The How: As the Human Resources Manager you are an HR professional who is passionate about cultivating a workplace that adheres to regulations while also maintaining a people-forward and community-driven culture. As part of the Culture and People Team, you harness your experience and proven track record to take Mesa Rim to the next level, proactively building systems and processes to ensure ongoing compliance across the company. The What: Operational Excellence: The Human Resources Manager ensures Mesa Rim’s HR operations are compliant, consistent, and scalable across all regions, reducing organizational risk while creating reliable and trusted people practices. The HR Manager oversees a team that is responsible for HR administration across multiple states. Human Resources Manager is responsible for owning and maintaining Mesa Rim’s adherence to state and federal employment laws and HR best practices across all regions Ensure mandated postings, documentation, and trainings are in compliance, completed on time, and follow best practices across multiple states (ex: employee handbook, policies, legal notices, safety trainings, harassment & discrimination prevention, youth protection, etc.) Lead and continuously improve core HR functions across the employee lifecycle, ensuring consistency, compliance, and a positive employee experience (ex: onboarding and offboarding processes, including leading terminations; open enrollment process, leaves and accommodation, performance management, etc.) Partner with Mesa Rim’s Director of Operations, to align people practices with operational needs, supporting both employee experience and effective operations Serve as Mesa Rim’s primary Employee Relations leader, overseeing investigations, conflict resolution, and employee relations outcomes with fairness, consistency, and alignment to Mesa Rim’s values and legal obligations, while partnering with the Director of Culture and People on complex or higher-risk matters Support Mesa Rim’s CFO with the annual workers’ compensation renewal by providing claims data, compliance insights, and operational context Partner with Managers to build confidence and consistency in people decisions by providing timely HR guidance, training, and coaching Responsible for Mesa Rim’s workplace safety program; ensure compliance, provide direction to managers and employees, oversee Safety and Labor Inspections and Workers’ Compensation insurance visits, and ensure proper training and documentation Ensure successful completion of payroll; audit prior to submitting and serve as back up as needed Collaborate with the C+P Team to design and implement compliant people systems and processes Maintain consistent onsite presence, visiting all regions quarterly to build relationships, ensure alignment and support consistent HR practices across sites; proactively connect regularly with sites outside of the San Diego region, ensuring they are supported and connected Leadership Excellence: The HR Manager is responsible for guiding, inspiring, and motivating the efforts of their direct reports in support of Mesa Rim’s vision. Drive departmental outcomes by setting clear expectations, monitoring progress, and holding direct reports accountable to goals.
