Description

To coordinate, implement and manage all Human Resources (HR) functions and activities across MSG Afrika Broadcasting group of companies. This role ensures operational HR effectiveness, compliance, and alignment with the company’s business objectives and values.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor’s degree in human resources management / industrial psychology or related field.
Postgraduate qualification is advantageous.

EXPERIENCE:

5–7 years’ generalist HR experience, with at least 3 years in a middle management role.
Experience in a media, broadcasting, or fast-paced creative environment will be an advantage.

SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:

Strong knowledge of South African labour laws
Excellent interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills
Proficiency in HRIS systems
Strong organisational and time management abilities
High emotional intelligence and cultural sensitivity

Responsibilities

Operational HR management
Implement HR policies and procedures in line with group strategy.
Oversee and manage the full employee lifecycle (recruitment, onboarding, performance, development, retention, and exit).
Maintain up-to-date HR records and ensure compliance with labour legislation.
Talent acquisition and workforce planning
Manage recruitment processes for all levels within the broadcasting business unit.
Partner with department heads to identify current and future staffing needs.
Drive diversity and inclusion in all recruitment efforts.
Performance management
Coordinate performance appraisal processes and ensure consistent application.
Monitor performance improvement plans and advise managers accordingly.
Identify high-potential talent and support succession planning efforts.
Employee relations
Serve as the first point of contact for HR queries, grievances, and disciplinary matters.
Support the execution of fair and compliant disciplinary processes.
Promote a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
Attend to legal case such as CCMA, if needed.
Learning and development
Coordinate training needs analysis in conjunction with line managers.
Facilitate or support delivery of internal or external training initiatives.
Maintain training records and report on outcomes.
HR reporting and analytics
Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly HR reports to the group HR head or any other appointed executive.
Track key HR metrics including turnover, absenteeism, and training completion.
Provide insights to support data-driven HR decisions.
Compliance and governance
Ensure alignment with all legal and statutory HR requirements (LRA, EEA, etc.).
Lead internal HR audits and implement corrective actions where necessary.
Champion ethical and compliant HR practices.
