POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Human Resources Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Human Resources function across Retina Specialists of Michigan’s clinical and administrative operations. This position manages key HR processes including recruitment, employee relations, compliance, policy administration, benefits coordination, and organizational development. The HR Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the practice remains compliant with employment laws, supports a healthy and inclusive work environment, and aligns HR strategies with the goals of the organization.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (required)
  • HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) preferred

MINIMUM BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 5 years HR management experience in a healthcare or multi-location environment
  • Experience managing employee relations, performance management processes, benefit compensation packages, and employment-related regulations
  • Strong understanding of benefits administration, hiring processes, and compliance documentation

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:

Employee Benefits & Oversight

  • Administer employee benefits programs (health, dental, disability, life) and support employees in the process.
  • Manage educational funds and employee reimbursements.
  • Maintain timecard systems including new hire entry, missed punch corrections, and location/pay category accuracy.
  • Manage PTO tracking, approval processes, and yearly allocations.

Talent Acquisition and Staffing

  • Lead the full-cycle hiring process, including job postings, candidate screening, and interviews.
  • Oversee onboarding, employment forms collection, and system setup.
  • Coordinate new hire announcements and welcome communications.
  • Track and report key HR metrics, including turnover, engagement, and headcount trends.
  • Conduct exit when employees separate.

Employee Development and Training

  • Track performance review timelines and assist leaders with scheduling.
  • Support certification tracking and education funding.
  • Ensure annual HIPAA and safety training is completed.
  • Educate staff on certification requirements and deadlines.

HR Compliance and Regulatory Oversight

  • Develop, implement, and maintain HR policies and procedures in compliance with applicable laws and internal best practices.
  • Ensure organizational compliance with RSM policies, OSHA, HIPAA, and employment law.
  • Maintain up-to-date credentialing and certification records.
  • Monitor physician license renewals and related deadlines.
  • Manage employee relations matters, including conflict resolution, investigations, and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Employee Engagement & Relations

  • Promote a positive workplace culture aligned with RSM values.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employee relations and morale-building efforts.
  • Oversee employee announcements (new hires, anniversaries, promotions, life events).
  • Manage staff gifts (TerryBerry), nametags, and internal communications.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Track and report key HR metrics, including turnover, engagement, and headcount trends.
  • Participate in organizational planning, workforce development, and process improvement efforts.
  • Serve as a resource for employees regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Support credentialing and compliance processes as needed in collaboration with clinical leadership.
  • Coordinate annual performance review cycles and assist with goal-setting and evaluation documentation.
  • Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion in handling sensitive HR and personnel matters.
  • Maintain compliance with RSM policies and procedures, including departmental protocols, HIPAA privacy and security standards, and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Actively participate in key performance indicator (KPI), key behavior indicator (KBI), and SMART Goals initiatives aligned with EOS seat expectations.
  • Attend staff and educational meetings as required.
  • Respond to email communications in a timely and professional manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
