Description:

SUMMARY: The Human Resources Manager is responsible for managing the HR function, providing guidance and support to managers regarding employee relations issues, coaching, and performance management, ensuring legal compliance with all State and Federal regulations and overseeing various recognition and retention programs. The HR Manager will work collaboratively with other functional leaders in the Human Resources Department and throughout the facility to establish and maintain HR programs and processes that will support an employee-oriented, high performance culture.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This list is not intended to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

Partner with leaders and their teams to develop and execute HR strategies and activities that foster growth, innovation, employee engagement, and organizational effectiveness.

  • Drive, influence, advise and support the cultural and people aspects of organizational change, structures, people processes and initiatives within the organization.
  • Lead and execute all plant HR initiatives, including employee relations, performance management, and HR compliance.
  • Administer programs and policies in a manner that supports our overall core values, metrics and business direction.
  • Ensure effective employee relations by providing sound advice and consideration relating to employee issues. Meets with employees and management to resolve issues.
  • Responsible for effectively identifying, investigating and resolving employee relations issues and resolving complex labor and human capital challenges.
  • Manages the employee job bid/transfer/promotion process.
  • Writes separation notices for employees separating with cause and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
  • Manages the human resources generalists and monitors work performance, prepares and delivers performance feedback, fosters development, mentors, recommends performance improvement actions and disciplinary action, when needed.
  • Collaborate with other members of Human Resources team in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies; coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
  • Performs other duties as necessary support of business objectives, including, but not limited to providing support to other functional areas of HR (recruiting, training, leave management, benefits administration, etc.).

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Human Resources, Industrial Relations or related field with five or more years of progressively responsible experience, preferably in a food manufacturing or a similar industry. Knowledge of all aspects of Human Resources, labor relations and employment law required. Significant relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS: Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and/or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management and employees. Must have the ability to influence and persuade others.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents in the English language such as benefits documents, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Must be able to effectively communicate with outside consultants, vendors, and production and management personnel. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) a plus.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to apply mathematical applications to practical situations. Demonstrated ability to understand advanced statistics and statistical analysis for process control.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical, diagram, written and/or verbal form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables. Must demonstrate sound judgement and strong critical thinking skills. Must have the ability to manage multiple projects accurately and confidently.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong personal computer skills (Microsoft products, ADP/HRIS system) required; must hold a valid driver’s license due to occasional business travel.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. Generally the incumbent must be able to sit and use a computer for extended periods of time. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; move about the facility; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 25 pounds
