Human Resources Manager
Location: Wheeling, WV
Reports To: Vice President of Operations
Position Summary
We are seeking an initiative-taking and meticulous Human Resources Manager to manage HR functions in a fast-paced cross-industry business. This role is responsible for managing a small HR team and overseeing recruiting, onboarding, payroll, benefits, compliance, employee engagement, and HR systems. The ideal candidate will bring firsthand experience, and a passion for building a positive and productive workplace culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and support HR staff in daily operations, ensuring alignment with company goals and HR best practices.
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment including job postings, screening, interviewing, and hiring.
  • Oversee onboarding processes to ensure a smooth new hire experience.
  • Manage bi-weekly payroll using Paychex Flex.
  • Maintain and update employee benefits through Paychex Flock.
  • Serve as a contact for benefits questions and open enrollment.
  • Maintain accurate employee records in Paychex.
  • Generate monthly and ad hoc HR reports to support leadership and month-end close.
  • Maintain and update the employee handbook annually.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws.
  • Support audits and maintain proper documentation.
  • Serve as a resource for employees and managers on HR-related matters.
  • Plan and coordinate employee events and engagement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of HR generalist or managerial experience.
  • Proficiency with Paychex HRIS platforms: Flex, Flock, and Engage, is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll, benefits, and employment law.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
