What You’ll Do

As the HR Manager in Ontario, you will oversee all HR functions including labor relations, recruitment, payroll, benefits, compliance, and employee engagement. This person is a crucial part of our plant and will interact with department heads and supervisors throughout the plant. The HR Manager plays a key role in supporting leadership, managing union relationships, and fostering a strong workplace culture.

  • Participate in union contract negotiations
  • Administer collective agreements
  • Manage the onsite Payroll Administrator
  • Prepare weekly Manpower schedule ensuring qualified employees are assigned in each occupation
  • Track and monitor employee attendance, issuing disciplinary actions when necessary
  • Set schedules for appraisals, send out Supervisor and Employee copies and follow up as needed to ensure appraisals are completed on a timely basis
  • Screen and interview candidates and make recommendations to management on hires
  • Review and approve salary and hourly payroll
  • Perform duties of Administrator for the Registered Pension Plans, RRSP’s and TFSA’s
  • Learn HRMS and maintain confidential employee information
  • Manage employee Group Benefits, meeting quarterly with insurance brokers to review costs, usage, and explore options to reduce expenditures
  • Get monthly payment amounts from pension plans, compare contributions to forms and reconcile as needed
  • Report on WSIB payments on a monthly basis
  • Report yearly pension member data for two plans

What You’ll Need

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS POSITION, YOU MUST:

  • Possess a diploma in Human Resources Management and have 7 years of progressive HR experience in a unionized manufacturing environment
  • Have strong labor relations, technology, and systems skills with the ability to set up reports in our current systems
  • Have strong knowledge of Ontario labor laws and HR best practices
  • Be proficient in Microsoft Office products and have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Have experience in payroll, pension, and benefits administration
