JOB SUMMARY:

Maintains and enhances the company’s Human Resources by planning, implementing and evaluating associate relations and human resources polices, programs and practices. As well as, implementing and maintaining Health & Safety programs, procedures, claims management and special projects as required.

JOB RESPONSIBILITES:

  • Maintains the work structure by updating job requirements and job descriptions for all positions in conjunction with the department mangers.
  • Maintains organizations staff by establishing a recruiting, testing, and interviewing program; counseling managers/supervisors on candidate selection; conducting and analyzing exit interviews, recommending changes
  • Prepares associates by establishing and conducting orientation and all other training programs.
  • Maintains a pay plan by conducting periodic pay surveys; scheduling and conducting job evaluations; preparing pay budgets, monitoring and scheduling individual pay actions; recommending, planning and implementing pay structure revisions.
  • Ensures planning, monitoring and appraisal of associate work results by training managers/supervisors to coach and discipline associates; heading up monthly meetings with associates, hearing and resolving associate grievances, counseling associates and supervisors.
  • Liaise with managers/supervisors in resolving associate concerns with respect to job security, fair treatment, safe and healthy workplace, and communication
  • Maintains associate benefits & pension programs and inform associates of benefits by studying and assessing benefit needs and trends; recommending benefit programs to management; oversee the processing of benefit claims, obtaining and evaluating benefit contract bids; awarding benefit contracts; designing and conducting educational programs on benefit programs.
  • Complete weekly and bi-weekly payrolls for both hourly and salaried associates.
  • Ensures legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable human resource legislated requirements; conducting investigations; maintaining records representing the organization at hearings.
  • Maintains management guidelines by preparing, updating and recommending human resources policies and procedures as well as the company handbook.
  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
  • Responsible for the maintenance of all associate personnel files.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate input in the current HRIS system including attendance, training, discipline, performance and other pertinent data
  • Responsible to manage the RTW program and claims management of WSIB, STD and LTD.
  • Maintains human resource staff and job results by counseling, coaching and disciplining, planning, monitoring and appraising job results.
  • Responsible for communication with associates via memos and updating/maintaining bulletin boards.
  • Responsible for on-time daily/weekly/monthly reports related to your position for Corporate.
  • Responsible for all Health and Safety programs within the facility to ensure due diligence and compliance to all applicable legislation.
  • Perform document control functions related to environmental requirements that pertain to your department.
  • Other duties and projects as required by your Manager.

EDUCATION & QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3-5 years experience in a similar position(s).
  • Human Resources Management Diploma or Degree.
  • Occupational Health & Safety Certificate a definite asset.
  • Good working knowledge of HR issues.
  • Good working knowledge of current and changing legislation in HR and Safety including MOL requirements.
  • Proven ability to organize, manage projects and multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, independently and in a team with limited supervision/direction
    Job Types: Full-time, Fixed term contract
    Contract length: 12 months
