SUMMARY

The bilingual in English and Spanish Human Resources Specialist will be responsible for managing the daily operations of the Human Resources (HR) department. This role involves overseeing recruitment, onboarding, benefits administration, compliance, and employee relations. The ideal candidate will possess strong problem-solving abilities, excellent communication skills, and a keen understanding of HR best practices and employment law.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in HR or related roles.
  • Knowledge of HR software and systems (e.g., ADP, Workday, Monday).
  • HR certifications (e.g., SHRM-CP, PHR) are often preferred but not required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be fluent in English and Spanish
  • Knowledge of US labor laws and regulations including California and Illinois.
  • Knowledge of Canada legislation including but not limited to Quebec
  • Ability to perform duties with minimal supervision or guidance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Effectively adapt to change and thrive in a stimulating, fast-pace work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Manage onboarding and orientation processes for new employees.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations and HR inquiries.
  • Assist with the administration of employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and FMLA and Personal leave requests.
  • Maintains employee records, ensuring completion and accuracy of details such as employee contact information, job classification, pay rates, organizational structure, and other key details.
  • Plans and supports company-wide information meetings such as open enrollment, new hire orientation, and meetings to announce or discuss changes in retirement or benefits plans.
  • Conducts or assists with record audits and mandatory reports, which may include I-9 audits, EEO-1 filings, payroll audits, and other compliance reviews.
  • Support HR projects and initiatives
  • Support payroll processes and administer in the absence of Payroll and Compliance Supervisor
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Maintain HR databases and generate reports as needed.
  • Perform other office duties as assigned
