JOB SUMMARY

As the Human Resources Supervisor, you’ll work closely with the Vice President of People to help bring our department’s vision to life. You’ll play a hands-on role in day-to-day HR operations while also providing guidance and oversight to the HR team. This role is about connection, consistency, and execution—you’ll help ensure our policies are applied fairly, support our managers and employees through a wide range of situations, and keep us compliant and organized behind the scenes. You’ll also serve as a go-to resource for both the team and leadership, helping to maintain a positive, people-first culture that supports our workforce and business goals.

KEY JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or leadership capacity.
  • Strong understanding of California employment law and compliance practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust and influence at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience with HRIS systems; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar certification preferred.
  • Must possess mental and physical capacities necessary to perform the job duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The requirements listed below are representative of the physical ability required.
Work is performed primarily indoors. Lighting is artificial. Equipment used includes standard office equipment i.e. computer, telephone, fax machine and copier. Physical demands include sitting, walking, standing, bending over, kneeling, repetitive use of hands, grasping, pushing, pulling and lifting up to 25 lbs. Hours and days are Monday through Friday with occasional weekends or overtime required. Position requires close contact with Blue Mountain employees.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Incumbent must have the skills, ability, and judgment to perform the following essential job duties and responsibilities with or without reasonable accommodation:

  • Partner closely with the VP of People to implement HR strategies and department goals.
  • Supervise day-to-day HR operations, providing guidance and support to HR team members.
  • Lead and manage all aspects of employee benefits administration, including enrollments, terminations, open enrollment, vendor coordination, and compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Serve as the internal subject matter expert on benefits offerings, ensuring employees are informed and supported in their elections and eligibility.
  • Oversee leave of absence processes, including FMLA, CFRA, Workers’ Compensation, and personal leaves, ensuring proper documentation and legal compliance.
  • Ensure benefit-related data and reporting are accurate, timely, and aligned with payroll and compliance requirements.
  • Address employee questions, escalated concerns, and support resolution of HR-related matters, particularly those involving benefits and leave.
  • Assist with employee relations issues, conducting investigations and supporting fair outcomes.
  • Draft and communicate internal HR updates regarding policies, programs, and employee status changes.
  • Maintain compliance with employment laws and ensure regular updates to internal processes and policies.
  • Provide reporting and insights to HR leadership and collaborate with Payroll on shared processes.
  • Train, mentor, and evaluate HR staff performance and support their professional development.
  • Perform all other related duties.
