Description Teller County’s Department of Human Services is seeking a full-time Human Services Supervisor - Ongoing to provide leadership, coordination and consultation in planning and delivery of services for a unit/section that provides ongoing child welfare services, prevention services and programs including Youth in Conflict, Child protection, Foster Home and Adoption services; position will be responsible for supervising 5-7 personnel. What You'll Do: (1) Plan, organize, implement and oversee work in assigned programs and functions. (2) Organize work of assigned staff to ensure coverage, efficiency and effectiveness in handling case load; assign specific duties according to knowledge and skill of staff; provide supervision and consultation in accomplishment of tasks; provide training; provide written and verbal instructions to staff to explain policies and procedures to facilitate quality professional practices. (3) Develop systematic methods of implementing programming including controls and monitoring performance; meet with staff and team to evaluate performance. (4) Schedule staff; conduct individual and group conferences to establish and monitor guidelines; establish Ongoing unit and program objectives in conjunction with Intake unit. (5) Provide fiscal and program analysis; monitor staff reports and monthly billing/program reports. (6) Determine resources required to achieve goals and priorities; interview and participate in selection of employees for unit and agency. (7) Prepare reports and correspondence as needed. (8) Collaborate with other agencies and the community as representative of the Department to coordinate programs to develop joint projects, implement more effective and efficient services and provide training and workshops. (10) Complete annual performance rating and develop individual performance goals and evaluate progress periodically. (11) Plan, arrange and schedule mandatory annual and other staff training. (12) Responsible for participation in Judicial District IV meetings and other county/regional and state meetings; attends and testifies in court proceedings. (13) Participate in monthly Utilization Review Committee. (14) Resolve concerns and complaints from staff, clients, agencies and/or State Complaint office. (15) Act as liaison for the Interstate Compact for the Placement of Children (ICPC) for Teller County. (16) Oversee Foster Home, Kinship and Adoption program; coordinate staff and scheduling for monthly Foster Care Review. (17) Act as CHRP coordinator (case services for developmentally disabled clients) and assist clients in obtaining long-term benefits. (18) Participate in inter-agency committees as required. (19) Attend court and testify as needed. Requirements What You'll Bring: Education/Experience: Bachelors’ degree in social or behavioral science Masters’ preferred Five (5) years’ experience providing social services, including three (3) years’ experience at or above Social Caseworker III level At least two (2) years’ experience supervising human services staff strongly preferred Any acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted. You Also Have These Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Knowledge of: principles and processes for providing excellent customer service, including customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction; management and supervisory principles and methods; human behavior, grieving, loss, abnormal behavior, substance abuse, child abuse and domestic violence; law and court systems; applicable statutes and regulations including Children’s Code and other rules and regulations pertaining to adult and child welfare; case work principles case planning and practices; community development and organization. Skilled in: use of basic computer software programs; understanding and applying pertinent laws, rules, regulations and policies; using tact, discretion, initiative and independent judgment within established guidelines; maintaining confidentiality; organizing work, setting priorities, meeting critical deadlines and following up on assignments with minimum direction and supervision; applying logical thinking to solve problems or accomplish tasks; to understand, interpret and communicate complicated policies, procedures and protocols; working in a deadline driven environment; initiating and responding to medium volume of daily calls/contact; interacting with all levels of internal and external professionals while developing strong productive relationships; designing strategies, analyzing results and making recommendations; organization and time management. Additional Details About the Role: Visual Acuity/Hearing/Speaking: Must be able to communicate by talking and hearing in person and by telephone; ability to see and read printed materials and documents, characters on a computer screen and office machines. Physical Effort/Dexterity: This position works in an office setting with daily routine computer usage; requires the ability to drive a vehicle; light physical exertion and the normal range of motion and dexterity; ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, crawl or climb; ability to lift, pull or drag up to 25 lbs. for short periods of time. Environmental Factors: Work is generally performed in an office setting; frequent travel to community and State of Colorado meetings and training as required. Work Schedule/Characteristics: 40 hours per week; must be able to work a flexible schedule; subject to unscheduled call-out based on Hot-line emergency; subject to on call duty after business hours. License/Certification Requirements: Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Colorado driver’s license. Additional Requirements: Successful completion of the Colorado State Supervisor Training Academy.
