Position Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Humanities Teacher to join our faculty and teach a combination of English (9–12th grade), World History, U.S. History, Government, and Economics. This role is ideal for an educator who values a holistic approach to learning, thrives in a close-knit boarding school community, and is committed to fostering both academic excellence and personal growth in students.

Responsibilities

  • Teach multiple humanities subjects across grades 9–12 for around 35 students, including English, History, Government, and Economics.
  • Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned lesson plans that foster critical thinking, creativity, and effective communication.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of a diverse student population, including English language learners and students requiring academic support.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to create an interdisciplinary approach to humanities education.
  • Incorporate writing, research, and project-based learning into the curriculum.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students and maintain accurate academic records.
  • Serve as an advisor and mentor, supporting students’ academic, social, and emotional development in a boarding school environment.
  • Participate fully in the life of the boarding school, including student activities, weekend duty rotations, and community events.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, History, Humanities, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Teaching experience in secondary education is strongly preferred.
  • Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to foster a supportive, inclusive, and engaging learning environment.
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm, and commitment to working in a residential school setting.
  • California teaching credential preferred but not required.

Compensation & Benefits

  • $75,00- 80,000 annually depending on experience and education
