Description
The systems engineer will be responsible for developing software strategies for Ford's electrified vehicle portfolio. Specific responsibilities will include our battery, power conversion, and charging modules. You will directly shape the future of electrification in order to deliver outstanding customer experience while also meeting industry standards and government regulations. Author and release new software system requirements for battery and charging across multiple programs and suppliers. Lead the software systems engineering to enable electrified propulsion and charging. Architect and allocate functionality to efficiently meet product attribute requirements. Cascade software requirements and coordinate functionality rollout with battery and charging software teams. Ensure software strategies comply with industry standards, regulations, and corporate governance for the global market (US/EU/CN). BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or equivalent engineering. (MS+ preferred) Minimum 3 years of team leading or project management experience. Minimum of 5 years of product development and systems engineering experience in automotive. Must have experience in software development processes, specification, and validation. Must have an understanding of electric circuits and have the ability to read circuit diagrams. Must know typical electric vehicle battery chemistries and the physics and hardware typically required to charge/discharge high voltage batteries. Expert in electrified systems including knowing the typical components that make up an electrified powertrain. Must understand how electrified components are typically connected and how software functionality is distributed. Must have ability to read and identify software code in C++ and model-based software (like Simulink). This role does not require software coding experience, but does require comprehension. Familiar with different software standards, government regulations, and processes such as: SAE J1772, ISO 15118-2/3/20, IEC 61851, GTR-22, and ACC-II. Team player with capability working with cross functionally. Experience creating and leading a team of peers. Strong oral and written communications skills, with ability to present to higher levels of management. Experience using the following software tools: JIRA, JAMA, CANalyzer, C++, Python, MATLAB Simulink
