About the role
HV Technician (eBOP Technician)
Join AGL as an HV Technician and play a critical role in the safe operation and maintenance of electrical Balance of Plant equipment at our wind farms across South Australia. This role focuses on medium and high voltage infrastructure, DC backup systems, and supports turbine service technicians and engineering teams in scheduled maintenance and outage execution.
Key Purpose of the Role
The eBOP/HV Technician is responsible for ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of wind farm electrical infrastructure. This includes supporting turbine technicians, executing switching operations, and providing onsite support to SCADA and Electrical Engineers. The role also involves outage planning, execution, and ensuring compliance with AGL’s HSE standards.

Key Accountabilities

  • Execute and oversee maintenance of wind farm electrical infrastructure, including inspections, repairs, and outage planning.
  • Support turbine technicians with troubleshooting and maintenance of eBOP systems and perform HV switching operations.
  • Prepare and manage safety documentation, including PTWs, JSEAs, LOTO procedures, and ensure compliance with Safe Access Rules.
  • Supervise contractors and service providers to ensure safe, high-quality execution of HV and complex electrical works.
  • Uphold AGL’s HSE standards, actively participating in safety meetings, hazard analyses, and mentoring team members.

Qualifications, Key Skills and Experience

  • Electrical trade and high voltage certification OR Mechanical trade with HV experience.
  • Experience working on wind farm electrical infrastructure is desirable but not necessary.
  • Experience with LOTO and switching procedure generation and execution.
  • Experience in outage planning and execution.
  • Willingness to work at heights and in confined environments.
  • Experience with SAP systems preferred.
