JOB DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a talented HVAC Design Engineer with a minimum of 4 years’ experience in designing and delivering HVAC systems for commercial, residential, and industrial projects in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing efficient, code-compliant HVAC solutions from concept through to detailed design, and collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless project execution.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 4 years of experience in HVAC design on building projects, preferably in the UAE/Gulf region.
• Proficiency in Revit MEP, AutoCAD, and HVAC load-calculation software (HAP, TRACE 700, IESVE, or similar).
• Solid knowledge of HVAC systems, energy efficiency strategies, and sustainable design principles.
• Familiarity with local codes and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, Abu Dhabi civil defense).
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities, with experience working in multidisciplinary environments.
• Professional certification (e.g., LEED AP, Chartered Engineer) is a plus.

• HVAC System Design:
• Perform load calculations and thermal analysis to size chillers, AHUs, FCUs, VAV boxes, ductwork, pumps, and piping using software such as HAP, TRACE 700, or IESVE.
• Develop single-line and schematic diagrams, duct layouts, and piping isometrics in AutoCAD and/or Revit MEP.
• Select and specify HVAC equipment and components, ensuring performance, reliability, and energy efficiency.
• Technical Documentation:
• Prepare detailed design drawings, datasheets, equipment schedules, and technical specifications.
• Compile tender packages, calculation reports, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for procurement.
• Ensure all documentation adheres to project BIM Execution Plans (BEP) and UAE standards (e.g., ASHRAE, UAE Fire & Life Safety Code).
• Standards & Compliance:
• Ensure designs comply with UAE civil defense regulations, municipal requirements (e.g., Abu Dhabi Municipality), and international standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA).
• Liaise with authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ) for design approvals and respond to review comments.
• Coordination & Collaboration:
• Coordinate HVAC layouts and models with architectural, structural, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection disciplines via Navisworks or BIM 360 to detect and resolve clashes.
• Attend design coordination meetings, present HVAC proposals, and integrate feedback from consultants and clients.
• Project Support & Quality Control:
• Review shop drawings and contractor submittals to ensure compliance with the design intent.
• Conduct site visits to verify installations against drawings and address any field issues.
• Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and handover phases.
• Continuous Improvement:
• Develop and maintain a library of HVAC BIM families, templates, and standard details.
• Mentor junior engineers and share best practices for HVAC design and modeling tools.
