Job Description We are seeking a skilled and experienced Residential HVAC Installer to manage the complete installation and change-out of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems in residential properties. This role requires expertise in reading blueprints, performing system startup, meticulous attention to detail, and a commitment to safe, high-quality work according to manufacturer specifications and local codes. Key Responsibilities and Duties System Installation: Perform complete residential HVAC system installations and change-outs, including furnaces, air conditioners, heat pumps, air handlers, coils, and duct modifications. Blueprint & Design Execution: Read, interpret, and accurately execute installation plans, schematics, and job specifications to ensure proper sizing, venting, and placement. Refrigerant & Line Set Work: Properly evacuate, pressure-test, and charge refrigerant into new systems, ensuring leak-free connections and adherence to EPA regulations. Electrical & Mechanical Connections: Install, connect, and safely wire HVAC units, thermostats (including smart/communicating models), and related electrical components. Quality Assurance & Startup: Complete system start-up, commissioning, testing, and balancing to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and customer comfort before project close-out. Compliance: Strictly adhere to all relevant local, state, and national building codes, regulations, and safety standards (OSHA, EPA). Customer Experience: Professionally communicate the scope of work, timeline, and demonstrate the operation of the new system to the homeowner. Ensure the work site is clean and orderly upon completion. Documentation: Accurately complete installation checklists, time logs, warranty information, and inventory tracking for all materials used. Collaboration: Work effectively with lead technicians, apprentices, and other trades (electricians, plumbers) to ensure project timelines are met. Required Qualifications Experience: Minimum of 1 year of verifiable experience (Preferred) specifically in residential HVAC system installation and replacement. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of current installation best practices, venting requirements, fuel lines, and ductwork principles. Tools & Equipment: Proficiency in using installation tools, including brazing torches, sheet metal tools, power tools, and vacuum pumps. Communication: Excellent verbal communication and professional interaction skills with team members and homeowners. Mobility: Valid state-issued Driver's License and a clean driving record. Physical Stamina: Ability to safely lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, and maneuver in tight/confined spaces (attics, crawlspaces) and in various weather conditions. Preferred Qualifications Current EPA Section 608 Universal Certification is strongly preferred (Type I and Type II minimum). NATE Certification (Installation specialty). Completion of an accredited HVAC technical school program or a formal apprenticeship. Experience with advanced sheet metal fabrication and duct modification.
