JOB DESCRIPTION

The HVAC Technician, specializing in installation, will be responsible for installing refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump systems in commercial and industrial environments. You will ensure that all work is carried out in compliance with current codes and standards, while providing superior quality service. You will play a key role in the commissioning of equipment.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Valid refrigeration qualification certificate and journeyman card.

  • DEP in refrigeration or any relevant equivalent training.

  • Relevant experience in HVAC equipment installation (minimum 2 to 5 years).
  • Excellent knowledge of refrigeration codes and standards in force in Quebec.
  • Proficiency in reading mechanical and electrical plans.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Basic knowledge of controls.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Tag 1 and ITG competency cards (an asset).

Install refrigeration, air conditioning, and heat pump systems according to plans, specifications, and technical requirements.

  • Read and interpret mechanical plans, piping diagrams, and wiring schematics to determine the location and function of installations.
  • Perform brazing, vacuuming, electrical connections, and equipment startup.
  • Participate in performance testing, balancing, and adjustments required during commissioning.
  • Ensure installations comply with current standards, including the Quebec Construction Code, the Electrical Code, and refrigeration safety standards (e.g., CSA B52).
  • Collaborate effectively with other trades (plumbing, ventilation, electrical) to ensure the proper execution of work.
  • Adhere to all health and safety standards at all times and hold an ASP construction card.
  • Complete necessary documentation for applicable manufacturer warranties and keep technical documents up to date
