Job Title: Senior HVAC Technician
Department: Facilities / Engineering
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor / Facilities Manager

JOB SUMMARY:

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior HVAC Technician to lead and perform complex installations, maintenance, and repairs on HVAC systems, including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration units. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to mentor junior technicians while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED; Technical certification or associate degree in HVAC or related field preferred.
  • Minimum 7+ years of hands-on HVAC experience, including commercial or industrial settings.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Advanced knowledge of HVAC systems and components.
  • Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) or Direct Digital Control (DDC) systems.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Proficient in using HVAC tools, equipment, and technology platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair various types of HVAC systems including chillers, boilers, air handlers, rooftop units, VAV systems, and split systems.
  • Diagnose HVAC system issues using advanced tools and techniques.
  • Perform preventive maintenance according to established schedules and industry standards.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and equipment manuals.
  • Monitor and optimize HVAC system performance for energy efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety procedures, codes, and regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, local codes).
  • Lead, train, and support junior technicians and apprentices on daily operations.
  • Maintain accurate service records and documentation using CMMS or similar systems.
  • Coordinate with other departments and contractors as necessary for project execution.
  • Respond promptly to emergency HVAC calls and participate in on-call rotation if required.
