    White River Medical Center  Job Description     Title: HVAC Technician   Department: Maintenance   Reporting Relationships: Maintenance Supervisor   Job Summary: Performs work in the installation, maintenance, inspection, modification, remodel and repair of HVAC equipment; act as lead worker to other classified staff in the area; and perform work as required.      Job Duties:  1. Maintains, repairs and installs HVAC equipment and components. 2. Replace air filters. 3. Checks safety equipment and replaces components such as washers, gaskets, and filters. 4. Monitors work done by outside contractors to adherence to HVAC Code Requirements and reports back to supervisor. 5. Perform PMs on assigned units. 6. Install, repair and maintain HVAC equipment. 7. Test units and lines for leaks. 8. Ensure all installation, repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of appropriate codes. 9. Ensure all installation, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements. 10. Maintains appropriate service and repair records. 11. Researches, purchases and inventories equipment parts and supplies. 12. Responds to routine and emergency calls for repairs and service. 13. May train and direct the work of other classified staff in the area. 14. Participates in required hospital and department inservices and meetings. 15. Follows safety and infection control policies. 16. Properly handles tools, materials, and equipment in a safe manner. 17. Maintain the confidentiality of all patient health information seen or heard at any White River Health System facility. 18. Meet’s WRMC attendance expectations as defined in the Personnel Policy/Procedure Manual. 19. Adheres to WRMC Dress Code Policy. 20. Education:  High School diploma or GED. Annual renewal of Arkansas Plumber’s license is required.  2. Training and Experience: Two-year experience in general hospital maintenance. 3. Job Knowledge:  Good problem solving and negotiating skills. 4. Verbal ability to communicate with staff, patients, guests, and management. 5. Ability to comprehend a wide range of subjects. 6. Good organizational skills. 7. Ability to work from Arkansas State Health Department, JACHO, and OSHA standards and guidelines.     Essentials: 1. Must be able to report to work fit for duty and free of any adverse effects of illegal drugs, medical marijuana, prescription medication, and/or alcohol.   2. Must be able to effectively communicate both orally and in writing with other individuals.    Physical Demands: Job responsibilities require a considerable amount of physical work. The individual will be required to lift or push up to 50 pounds. Workday requires frequent walking, stooping, bending, climbing ladders and squatting up to ten (10) hours per day. Must be able to work in confined and enclosed spaces. Must possess good manual dexterity, must possess good visual acuity and not be colorblind. Daily exposure to extreme heat and/or cold environment with humidity and high noise levels. The individual must also be able to maneuver throughout the halls, stairways, and patient rooms in response to hospital emergencies. Interpretation of environmental input requires visual and auditory skills. A significant amount of writing and computer entry is required.  
Responsibilities
The HVAC Technician performs installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of HVAC equipment. They also lead other classified staff and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
