    We are seeking a temporary HVDC Maintenance Engineer to join our System Protection and Control Department for an approximate
    two- year term.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate in Electrical Engineering from a university of recognized standing.
  • Minimum six years of experience related to maintenance, operations, design, and commissioning.
  • Registered as a Professional Engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists Manitoba.
Responsibilities
  • Provide on-site engineering services related to Bipole 1 and Bipole 2 control and protection systems, HVDC valve equipment,

and Synchronous Condenser control and protection systems at Dorsey Converter Station.

  • Support CS PCME staff at Riel in providing on-site engineering services related to Bipole 3 control and protection systems

and HVDC valve equipment for Riel Converter Station.

  • Support Dorsey and Riel CS PCME teams in performing asset condition assessments, providing engineering input and

feedback in producing and maintaining spare equipment inventories, providing specific input into asset sustainment tactics

and activities, and supporting other ongoing project readiness work.

  • Respond to forced outages at Dorsey Converter Station and assist in performing analysis, troubleshooting, and restoration.

Work together with CS PCME team members, site staff, and team members to develop and execute corrective action plans to

prevent recurrence and ensure equipment is operating safely.

  • Participate in after-hours standby rotations to ensure 24/7 engineering support for Dorsey Converter Station and respond to

emergent forced outages. This requires residing within reasonable driving distance of Dorsey Converter Station.

  • Support communication plans to provide clear information to HVDC operational, maintenance, and asset management

stakeholders on HVDC outages, including status, risks, pending mitigations, and next steps.

  • Establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships and open communication with other HVDC operational,

maintenance, and asset management stakeholders.

  • Support and provide general expertise to HVDC project groups by providing input on project scopes and plans, operational

and maintenance requirements, maintainability of new designs, compatibility with existing HVDC and Synchronous Condenser

control and protection systems, and ongoing performance assessment of new or proposed equipment.

  • Develop and maintain a working level of technical expertise in switching equipment, measurement equipment, valve cooling

system, auxiliary system, and other related HVDC and Synchronous Condenser converter station equipment. Provide
day-to-day guidance on equipment operation, engineering support, and technical training and development to site staff to

support maintenance activities.

  • Represent operating authority during construction and commissioning of new equipment.
  • Support security related initiatives, including the identification, assessment, and response to cyber security risks, and support

the implementation and sustainment of NERC standards, including CIP.
