POSITION SUMMARY

This position will be responsible for translating the design of new devices from engineering into the necessary artwork that can be implemented in the form of screens, stencils, laser or direct-write printer tool paths and more. This individual will also be expected to contribute to the areas of automated testing and inspection across all manufacturing processes.
Additional responsibilities include various print techniques such as gravure offset or aerosol jet with an emphasis on ink jet, as well as several automated assembly tools. Previous knowledge of print or electronic assembly processes for electronics is preferred but not an absolute necessity. Training on all manufacturing tools and processes will be provided as needed.
Use of analytical equipment and data manipulation to present results to the team will be an integral part of all tasks. This individual will also be expected to contribute to the areas of automated testing and inspection in other areas of the Fab.
Requirements:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, materials science or related field, or relevant experience.
  • Experience with electrical design and/or engineering software, including packages such as AutoCAD is highly recommended.
  • Hands-on experience with precision instruments and automated process equipment.
  • Communication skills in written and oral capacity to accurately report and describe activities and status.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES)

  • Work experience in manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with reading and interpreting electrical device layouts or schematics.
  • Experience with print processes, preferably using electronic materials.
  • Experience with ink jet print processes.
  • Experience with manufacturing process development.
  • Basic to intermediate programming skills (e.g., Python).
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., Minitab).
  • Experience with failure analysis including root cause analysis.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Become the subject matter expert (SME) of data-driven print tools (e.g., ink jet), including program creation, process optimization and characterization, supplier communication, and spare parts management.
  • Optimization of engineering supplied artwork, including ensuring that consistent design rules are followed for optimal results.
  • Developing skills to integrate, modify and oversee artwork with design tools such as Fab3000, AutoCAD and other proprietary software drawing tools.
  • Assist in programing and operation of other fab tools such as Fanuc robotic arm, LPKF laser and optical inspection tool sets.
  • Participate in meetings and discussions aimed at defining the tactical and strategic needs of the fab operations.
  • Development of manufacturing processes to solve complex problems, including process capability analysis and design of experiments.
  • Documentation of best practices for pilot manufacturing operation depending on tool, process and materials.
  • Training colleagues in best practices for manufacturing processes including, but not limited to, ink jet printing, optical inspection, and electrical test.
  • Corresponding with vendors and partners to stay abreast of technological trends and improving capabilities.
  • Operating in a safe and productive manner.
