THE OPPORTUNITY:

Tetra Tech is adding a Hydraulic Engineer, PE to join our team. This position can be based anywhere in the U.S. The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for providing engineering hydrological and hydraulic analysis, planning, and design for a variety of infrastructure-related civil and hydraulic engineering projects. This position offers world-case technical challenges, opportunities to mentor junior staff, and the chance to engage in and manage projects across the country and the world.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering with a focus in hydrology and hydraulics.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) licensure required
  • 4+ years of experience
  • Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record
  • Proficiency in hydrology and hydraulics programs, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project) programs
  • Knowledge of ArcGIS, InfoWater, SWMM, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS is preferred
  • Experience using MIKE URBAN and/or MIKE+ software preferred
  • Strong communication, report writing, organization, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with project work and process knowledge of hydrology and hydraulics, grading and drainage, streets, bridges, pump and system-curve analysis, dam experience, and other structures, preferred.
  • Position requires periodic travel, approximately 10-15%.
Responsibilities
  • Perform computer modeling of hydraulic infrastructure including water distribution systems, pumps, sanitary sewers, storm sewers, open channels, bridges/culverts, drainage, and stormwater design.
  • Conduct hydraulic calculations to assist in the design of hydraulic infrastructure.
  • Prepare technical reports for studies and design documents.
  • Ensure technical accuracy, standard engineering practices, and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects.
  • Evaluate alternatives, resolve technical issues, and interface with other disciplines.
  • Perform engineering interpretation of specifications and drawings, recommend and document design modifications, and coordinate with the design team.
  • Assess engineering problems and recommend solutions to engineering discipline managers, resolve questions, plan, coordinate, and execute work in a safe, timely, cost-effective, and compliant manner.
  • Coordinate with design staff for development and infrastructure-related projects for hydraulic equipment, water distribution, sanitary sewer collection, stormwater, roadway, street, bikeway, erosion control, grading, storm drainage, dams, and reservoirs.
  • Market potential clients, assist in the preparation of proposals, and attend interviews for project pursuits.
