Hydraulic Truck Repair Master Mechanic Department: Automotive Employment Type: Full Time Location: California Compensation: $38.00 - $49.00 / hour Description We are seeking a highly skilled Hydraulic Truck Repair Master Mechanic with expert-level knowledge of hydraulic systems on specialized trucks including cranes, aerial lifts, service bodies, dump trucks, and other hydraulically-operated equipment. Key Responsibilities Diagnose and repair complex hydraulic system failures on truck-mounted equipment Troubleshoot hydraulic pumps, motors, valves, cylinders, and control systems Repair and rebuild hydraulic components including proportional valves and load-sensing systems Design and fabricate custom hydraulic circuits and modifications Perform system testing, flow analysis, and pressure diagnostics Repair PTO-driven hydraulic systems and power units Troubleshoot and repair electrohydraulic control systems and joysticks Service hydraulic cranes, articulating booms, telescopic cylinders, and stabilizer systems Diagnose hydraulic leaks and contamination issues Install and commission new hydraulic equipment installations Train and mentor junior hydraulic technicians Maintain detailed documentation of repairs and system modifications Ensure all work meets manufacturer specifications and safety standards Skills, Knowledge and Expertise Required Qualifications Minimum 7-10 years experience specializing in mobile hydraulic systems Expert-level understanding of hydraulic theory, flow dynamics, and pressure systems Extensive experience with variable displacement pumps and advanced valve systems Proficiency reading and creating hydraulic schematics and diagrams Advanced diagnostic skills using flow meters, pressure gauges, and analysis tools Knowledge of hydraulic fluids, filtration, and contamination control Experience with truck-mounted hydraulic equipment (cranes, lifts, etc.) Ability to diagnose electrical/hydraulic interface issues Strong mechanical aptitude and fabrication skills Valid driver's license (CDL preferred) Comprehensive set of hydraulic specialty tools Preferred Qualifications Manufacturer certifications (National Crane, Elliott, Palfinger, Hiab, etc.) Hydraulic certification from IFPS (International Fluid Power Society) Welding and tube bending/flaring expertise Experience with hydraulic system design and engineering Knowledge of proportional and servo hydraulic controls PLC and electronic control system experience Crane operator or aerial lift operator certification Previous lead technician or shop supervisor experience Benefits Premium compensation: $38-$49/hour based on experience and certifications Fully paid health insurance 401(k) retirement plan Paid time off, sick leave, and paid holidays Annual bonus based on performance and shop productivity Uniform service and safety equipment provided Advancement opportunities Work Environment Full-time position with stable hours Monday through Friday, some overtime available
