What you’ll do ⦿ Hydraulic Design & Innovation: Lead the hydraulic design and application evaluation of centrifugal slurry pumps using computational methods such as CFD to improve performance and wear life. Daily tasks include developing and optimizing hydraulic designs, validating simulation models through prototyping and trials, and supporting the creation of predicted performance curves. Success means delivering innovative, high-performance pump designs that meet quality and cost targets. ⦿ Project Leadership & Management: Act as a strong project manager within both Waterfall and Agile environments, supervising and coordinating projects to meet cost and delivery goals. Lead technical enquiries, meetings, and presentations, ensuring clear communication and action management. ⦿ Technical Compliance & Documentation: Ensure all designs comply with global standards by maintaining accurate records, conducting design reviews, and generating engineering reports. Take ownership of office procedures and policies to uphold engineering best practices. ⦿ Team Collaboration & Subcontractor Liaison: Work collaboratively as a team player, leading designers and engineers, and liaising with subcontract engineering services to drive process and quality improvements. ⦿ Technology Advancement: Champion the use and development of CFD and other hydraulic design tools as key analysis and design resources within the department and Weir Minerals division. ⦿ Travel Requirements: Up to 5% travel to support project needs and collaboration. ⦿ Safety First: Demonstrate 100% commitment to our zero harm behaviors in support of our drive towards developing a world-class safety culture. What you’ll bring Must-haves: ⦿ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering field. ⦿ Significant experience in hydraulic design, preferably with centrifugal pumps and slurry pump applications. ⦿ Proven expertise in hydraulic testing, data validation, and CFD simulation. ⦿ Strong project management skills with experience leading engineering teams and projects. Nice-to-haves: ⦿ Experience in turbomachinery design. ⦿ Familiarity with FMEA, DFMA, and cost minimization methods. ⦿ Background in Project Management Related Tools ⦿ Experience liaising with subcontract engineering services and driving quality improvements.
