Description

THIS IS A NON-TELEWORK POSITION LOCATED IN PEARBLOSSOM.

Under the general direction of the Field Division Manager, the HEP Plant Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for budgeting, planning, directing, organizing and controlling the Plant Maintenance Branch and plant maintenance activities of facilities supplying water and/or power to various contractors within the Southern Field Division. Decisions with far-reaching implications will sometimes be required without time for detailed consideration. May perform administrative tasks in SAP such as time reports, program reports, requisitioning, work order notifications and other SAP functions. This position provides support to the Planner/Scheduler function.
This position requires that the incumbent work cooperatively with others, maintain consistent, regular, and predictable attendance and exercise good judgment. The specific essential duties are, but not limited to:
Coordinates, plans, schedules and directs the plant maintenance and repair programs for all electrical, mechanical and control system equipment at large pumping/generating plants within the field division. Incumbent directly supervises the activities of the Plant Maintenance Branch through subordinate supervisors and is responsible for a section highly skilled in hydroelectric plant trades and crafts. This position may require driving a vehicle on public or uneven roadways to work sites.
Incumbent schedules equipment outages for repair and/or maintenance and conducts periodic inspections and determines the degree and extent of required maintenance, repair or replacement; determines degree and extent of emergency repairs; plans, budgets, and provides cost-control data relative to plant maintenance; promotes safe working conditions by conducting safety meetings using literature and films.
Incumbent plans, develops and prepares budget which provides cost control data, relative to plant maintenance job tasks, i.e., scheduled outages, repairs to pumping/generating units, auxiliary equipment, aqueduct equipment, and specifications for purchasing of spares/maintenance shop/field equipment.
Personal contacts include essential meetings and conferences pertaining to the job task, including planning with design, construction and plant engineers, operating and civil maintenance superintendents, technical societies and O&M staff engineers. Directly or in a cooperative effort with engineering, interfaces modification efforts with headquarters, contractors, or suppliers; holds meeting and discussions relative to technical work on equipment in the plant and related auxiliaries with respective lead person, supervisors and support engineers. Coordinates activities with and assists as required, the other sections within the field division. Incumbent will be required to operate automotive vehicles on public roadways, travel to remote areas within the field division.
Prepares and reviews reports and correspondence of proposed actions affecting his/her area of responsibility. Will make recommendations of economical and safe operation and maintenance for policies and procedures.

Excellent computer skills and knowledge of SAP, or similar computer programs is essential. Experience in supervisor/leadership roles is ideal.
