THE OPPORTUNITY:

Calling all Hydrogeology students! At Canadian Natural, we strive to provide opportunities for you to contribute in a meaningful way and apply your academic experience to a challenging and rewarding project.
As a Hydrogeology student joining our team, you’ll have the opportunity to work on a project within either our thermal or conventional teams. You’ll get hands-on experience mapping aquifers and associated geological units. This role will enhance you understanding of petroleum geology and physical hydrogeology, contributing to your goal of a career in the industry.

You will work closely with one or more experienced Area Hydrogeologists to gain valuable experience and skills in geology and hydrogeology with a focus on regional mapping with exposure to physical hydrogeology. Experience in reporting and presentation will also be gained.

  • Term length: 4 or 8 months
  • Term start: January or May 2025

  • Shift schedule: 5 x 2 – 8 hours (Monday – Friday)

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

On-the-job training with the supervising Area and Project Hydrogeologists will be supplemented by mapping software training, in-house seminars, and short courses to enhance your experience and broaden your skills. Your core projects may include:

  • Compiling and assessing regional geological and hydrogeological data
  • Regional bedrock and Quaternary aquifer mapping
  • Mapping the extent and hydraulic head of regional artesian aquifers

Responsibilities:

  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in Geology, with a specialization in Hydrogeology. Recent new graduates of an accredited institution will be considered.
  • Required to be physically and mentally fit for work
  • Motivated self-starter who can thrive as an independent worker and in team settings.
  • A sense of ownership and responsibility for project outcomes, and the ability to work effectively in collaborative, interdisciplinary teams.
