SUMMARY

We are seeking a Hygiene Manager to join our team at Farne Salmon & Trout. In this pivotal role, in overseeing and coordinating hygiene operations within designated production areas. The primary responsibility is to uphold and enhance factory hygiene standards, ensuring compliance with customer swabbing targets and internal specifications.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Strong knowledge of High-Risk cleaning practices.
  • Knowledge and experience within a food manufacturing environment.
  • Solid understanding of factory processes and operations.
  • HACCP Level 2 (Minimum)
  • COSHH awareness
  • Allergen awareness
  • Proficiency in computer applications (word, excel, email)
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels.
  • Capability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions and ensure tasks are completed.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and within a team environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to take initiative.
  • Demonstrates a proactive, “can-do” attitude.
  • High attention to detail ensuring precision in all aspects of hygiene management.
  • Health and safety, Chemical and risk assessment training are desirable, but not essential.
Responsibilities
  • Develop, maintain, and implement work instructions and cleaning schedules to ensure hygiene standards are met.
  • Ensure accurate completion and sign-off of all required paperwork.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety (H&S) regulations and safe working practices.
  • Escalate any issues or concerns promptly and appropriately to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels are in place, overseeing workforce planning and deployment.
  • Ensure adequate management levels are in place
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with break schedules.
  • Facilitate clear communication by conducting weekly briefs and promoting Zest participation.
  • Attend regular technical department meetings as needed to represent hygiene interests.
  • Participate in regularly scheduled Hygiene Departmental Meetings.
  • Maintain and continuously improve hygiene standards across the site.
  • Provide the Hygiene Area Manager with performance reports and updates on operational challenges.
  • Ensure all staff receive appropriate training, identifying and addressing skill gaps.
  • Conduct Annual Personal Development Reviews with team members to support growth.
  • Contribute to Annual Cost, Food Safety, and Health & Safety (H&S) improvement plans and projects.
  • Review work procedures to optimize efficiency and effectiveness in hygiene operations.
  • Manage absence levels per the Company’s Attendance Management procedure, including Return to Work interviews, Guidance and Support meetings, and leave requests.
  • Conduct disciplinary investigations as required.
  • Provide holiday/absence cover for specific Hygiene Manager duties when needed.
