Responsibilities

THE ROLE:

This is a perfect role for a meticulous and proactive individual who takes pride in their work .
As a Hygiene Operative, you play a vital role in maintaining the cleanliness and hygiene of the production environment and equipment. The role is essential to ensuring that production can restart each day in a clean, safe, and compliant facility. Working primarily post-production, you will follow cleaning schedules and procedures to ensure hygiene and food safety standards are met across all areas. You will also be responsible for proper chemical handling, accurate documentation, and supporting overall site cleanliness in collaboration with the wider production team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform routine and deep cleaning of production areas, equipment, and factory facilities to maintain hygiene and safety standards.
  • Ensure cleaning activities meet food safety and GMP requirements, including completion of hygiene records.
  • Collaborate with production teams to coordinate safe, efficient cleaning schedules.
  • Safely handle and store cleaning chemicals in line with COSHH guidelines.
  • Identify and report any hygiene, safety, or environmental concerns to the line manager.

KEY TASKS

  • Carry out daily and scheduled cleaning tasks as per the hygiene schedule.
  • Clean processing equipment and production lines, including dismantling machinery for deep cleans.
  • Conduct post-cleaning checks to verify cleanliness through visual inspection or sample testing.
  • Complete hygiene paperwork and checklists accurately and on time.
  • Coordinate with production operatives to ensure cleaning is done safely after production ends.
  • Maintain cleanliness of floors, drains, waste disposal areas, and the wider factory environment.
  • Use and dilute cleaning chemicals according to COSHH procedures.
  • Respond to emerging cleanliness or safety issues by taking prompt action and notifying management.
