Description

POSITION SUMMARY

NeoDyne is seeking a highly experienced Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineer to support one of our key client sites on a contract basis. The successful candidate will play a critical role in delivering automation expertise across the Dublin based site.
This role is heavily design-focused and requires an engineer who can confidently lead the delivery of I&C system designs, while serving as a key liaison between the client’s engineering function, the main contractor, and specialist I&C vendors.

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

Required
Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in I&C system design and project delivery within pharmaceutical or high-spec process manufacturing environments.
Demonstrated experience leading detailed design of I&C hardware systems, from field instrumentation through to control panels.
Proven track record of coordinating with main contractors and managing third-party I&C vendors.
Proficiency with engineering drawings and documentation (e.g., P&IDs, loop diagrams, wiring schematics).
Strong understanding of control panel safety standards (e.g., Arc Flash, panel segregation, grounding).
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work cross-functionally in a site-based environment.
Desired
Familiarity with automation platform systems (e.g., DeltaV, Rockwell, Siemens).
Experience with vendor-packaged skids and automation sub-systems.
Background in I&C commissioning and loop validation.
Knowledge of control network topologies and signal types (4-20mA, 24VDC, Profibus/Modbus).
Experience working in regulated, GMP-compliant facilities.

Responsibilities

Lead the design of instrumentation and control system hardware, including field instruments, control panels, junction boxes, and HMI interfaces.
Translate project and process requirements into detailed I&C design documentation, including loop drawings, block diagrams, system architecture schematics, and design specifications.
Act as the primary I&C technical point of contact for coordination with the main contractor, ensuring alignment on scope, sequencing, and technical integration.
Liaise directly with I&C vendors to manage design inputs, equipment specifications, submittals, and FATs.
Develop and maintain the I&C scope of work, bill of materials, and installation packages.
Participate in control panel FATs, oversee installation quality, and support mechanical completion walks.
Support loop checks and commissioning activities in coordination with site automation, electrical, and commissioning teams.
Ensure all I&C work complies with cGMP, EHS, and internal engineering quality standards.
