POSITION SUMMARY:

The Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) projects. This includes analyzing drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and labor estimates. The Estimator works closely with project managers, and clients to ensure all aspects of the project scope are clearly understood and appropriately priced.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3+ years of estimating experience in the I&E or industrial electrical field (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation, and industrial construction processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, P&IDs, and specifications.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook); experience with estimating software such as Accubid, or similar a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree.
  • Field experience as an electrician or technician in an industrial setting.
  • Familiarity with NEC, API, and other industry codes and standards.
Responsibilities
  • Review project plans, specifications, and related documents to develop comprehensive and competitive estimates.
  • Analyze engineering drawings (P&IDs, electrical one-lines, loop diagrams), specifications, and project scope to prepare cost estimates for I&E installations.
  • Perform quantity take-offs and calculate material, labor, and equipment costs.
  • Solicit pricing from vendors and subcontractors and evaluate quotes for accuracy and completeness.
  • Develop detailed bid proposals and supporting documentation.
  • Collaborate with operations, engineering, and procurement teams to gather accurate and updated cost data.
  • Identify potential project risks and provide suggestions for value engineering and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Maintain and update historical cost databases and estimating software.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings and site visits when necessary to evaluate field conditions and gather information.
  • Assist project teams with budgets, value engineering, and change order pricing during execution phases.
  • Track and analyze project outcomes to continuously improve estimating accuracy.
