Description

SUMMARY

St. Margaret’s School (SMS) is Western Canada’s only girl-centered, independent day and boarding school located in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada on the unceded traditional territories of the Esquimalt Nations, Songhees Nations, and W̱SÁNEĆ Nations. Founded in 1908, SMS is an international centre for girl-centered learning and leadership development, providing empowering education for girls from Junior Kindergarten to Grade 12 (boarding grades 7–12). St. Margaret’s School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) School offering the Diploma Programme, and we are a candidate school for the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP).
The successful candidate will bring a strong background in evidence-based instructional practices and proven ability to create engaging, inclusive and inquiry-driven learning environments. Candidates should have demonstrated excellence in curriculum delivery in French and all areas of global language learning. Fluency in both oral and written French is essential, as well as familiarity with adaptive teaching strategies to accommodate a variety of student learning styles.
Experience teaching within the International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme in the Primary Years Programme (PYP) is an essential asset. At the heart of this role is the belief in nurturing the whole child - academically, socially, and emotionally - and a desire to cultivate a classroom culture where each student feels seen, valued, and empowered to thrive. The ideal candidate will demonstrate clear and compassionate communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine enthusiasm for contributing to an environment that develops competent, confident, and courageous girls.
Our school’s motto “service with love” embraces both individual pursuits and shared responsibilities. At SMS, teachers are required to participate in the extra-curricular life of the school, thereby educating the whole person and supporting students to develop the full range of their skills, talents, and interests.
