The Role As an IBM i (AS/400) Database Administrator – Performance & Capacity Specialist at Kyndryl, you’ll solve complex problems and identify potential future issues across the spectrum of platforms and services. Who You Are You’re good at what you do and possess the required experience to prove it. Required Skills and Experience 13–16 years of experience managing and supporting IBM i / AS400 / iSeries environments, including system administration, performance tuning, and database management. Advanced expertise in DB2 for i, performance tuning, and IBM i system internals. Strong proficiency with iDoctor, Plan Cache, SQL Performance Monitor, Collection Services, and other IBM i performance tools. Solid understanding of IBM i security concepts, journaling, BRMS, and backup/recovery strategies. Experience in diagnosing and resolving complex performance bottlenecks across database, CPU, memory, and I/O layers. Knowledge of encryption standards, security administration, and regulatory compliance requirements. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to provide actionable insights and expert recommendations. Preferred Skills and Experience Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field. Experience with HA/DR solutions (PowerHA, MIMIX, BRMS). Experience working in large, complex enterprise environments with mission-critical workloads. Strong communication and documentation skills. Mentor junior team members on IBM i performance concepts, diagnostic techniques, and database operations.
