Responsibilities

BACKGROUND & PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Automation and Electrical Engineer will be responsible for designs, develops, and supervision of the electrical control systems, equipment, and machinery with a focus on safety. Responsible for the installation and technical support of PLC-based hardware and software. Ensures critical support for all production line related concerns while supporting continuous improvement projects and structured kaizen activities as both a leader and team member. Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed for all work completed. Active participation in all projects for controls and electrical upgrades. Supervising the controls team, managing PTO request, approving timecards, and managing schedules for projects. Lead and maintain the electrical program as the site technical authority (TA3).

WHO YOU ARE & WHAT YOU’LL DO

You will be a leader and a change champion, actively engaging with all departments to identify key opportunities to both benefit the business with key savings as well as improve equipment performance to boost morale. Partner with the engineering team to drive automation CAPAX projects to completion. Lead and drive the electrical program at the site. Scheduling and planning key PM activities for the site power system. Partner with the Cyber and Digital Application Engineer with DFOS and Cyber activities.

  • Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting design including electrical requirements, robotic safety standards, motor controls and IT needs.
  • Oversee project workflow and support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and allotted budget.
  • Electrical, software design of customized solutions including manufacturing automation and safety systems. Able to maintain project scope and identify project creep.
  • Support manufacture, build and validation of systems which include pneumatics, servos, variable frequency drives, relays, communication networks, HMI touchscreens, and more.
  • Create customer documentation such as user manuals, programming diagrams, network diagrams, and electrical drawings.
  • Ability to architect programs that are simple to test, well documented and versatile.
  • Manage controls team activities.
  • Troubleshooting and root cause analysis of controls related losses in the site.
  • Provide technical assistance and input into reliability of factory systems and networks.
