Description
Description GasTech Engineering is seeking a skilled Mid-Level ICE (Instrumentation, Controls & Electrical) Designer to support detailed design and drafting efforts across a diverse portfolio of industrial projects. This role sits at the intersection of technical drafting, design coordination, and field-ready constructability. The ideal candidate brings practical design judgment, a strong understanding of industrial systems, and the ability to coordinate across engineering disciplines and external vendors. We’re looking for someone who takes engineering intent and transforms it into accurate, complete, and code-compliant drawing packages—while proactively identifying design or constructability challenges early in the project lifecycle. Key Responsibilities Produce and review detailed ICE design packages, including wiring diagrams, loop sheets, panel layouts, conduit schedules, and related deliverables. Interpret P&IDs, general arrangement drawings, and engineering specifications to generate accurate design output. Work collaboratively with engineers, project managers, and fellow designers to ensure alignment between design intent and field installation. Perform redlines, revisions, and BOM updates with consistent version control practices. Route conduit and cable in compliance with NEC and NFPA requirements while considering real-world installation constraints. Support equipment and instrumentation specification, tagging, and standardization efforts. Maintain and update drawing libraries, templates, and standard design blocks. Clearly communicate design changes across internal teams and to external vendors. Participate in design reviews and assist in resolving fabrication or installation challenges. Support drawing vault management and document control in accordance with company procedures. Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of GasTech’s ICE design standards and best practices. Requirements Education & Experience: Associate’s degree or technical diploma in design/drafting or a related field, with a minimum of 5 years of ICE design experience in industrial or energy environments. Software Skills: Proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or CADWorx preferred but not required. Experience with EPLAN or other electrical design platforms is a plus. Strong understanding of instrumentation symbols, wiring standards, control system architecture, and drafting conventions (preferred but not required). Required: Familiarity with conduit fittings, NEC/NFPA codes, and industrial wiring practices. Ability to interpret and produce panel layouts, termination diagrams, I/O schematics, and other ICE design documents. Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with technicians, engineers, project managers, and vendors. Highly organized, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy, constructability, and code compliance. Experience in oil & gas, process plants, or ISO 9001-based workflows is preferred but not required.
Responsibilities
The role involves producing and reviewing detailed ICE design packages, including wiring diagrams, loop sheets, and panel layouts, while interpreting P&IDs and engineering specifications to generate accurate design output. Key tasks include routing conduit and cable according to codes, supporting equipment specification, and maintaining drawing libraries.
