Description:

ABOUT THE EMPLOYER:

Brine Leas School is an 11-18, mixed, comprehensive School located in the beautiful market town of Nantwich, in Cheshire. The IT team located at the Brine Leas site also supports an additional 6 primary schools located within close proximity of the main site. They provide a full support service across all sites that delivers on the specific needs for each individual location.
Please note that you MUST be a driver who holds a full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle to apply for this role as it will be split across a number of schools in the Nantwich area.

What you will be doing:

  • Installation & preparation of new IT hardware & infrastructure
  • Complete minor repairs and upgrades to equipment and cabling
  • Maintain an asset register.
  • Management of helpdesk, ensuring calls are resolved and closed in a timely manner.
  • Escalation of calls to 3rd party support where necessary
  • Provide software support for all users by being familiar with the current software and, where appropriate, producing user-friendly guides.
  • Perform software rebuilds of laptops & PCs where needed.
  • Assist with Microsoft Office 365, internet and related activities including development and maintenance.
  • Support staff and students in the use of technology across all sites, including classroom support.
  • Provide ICT support and training to “feeder” primary schools
  • Perform health checks across both servers and end user devices. Highlighting damages and failures.
  • To be familiar with and promote safeguarding requirements, demonstrating adherence to the DFE Guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ and the school’s Child Protection policy.
  • To be aware of and to comply with all school and Trust policies and procedures, in particular those relating to conduct, child protection (as above), health, safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

Support Technician Duties:

  • Install and configure relevant software and hardware as appropriate for example: mobile apps, printers, projectors, scanners, and cameras.
  • Address IT issues by prioritising in response to customer service level agreements.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly health checks on ICT equipment. Highlighting damages and failures, where appropriate repair and replace.
  • Administer security access requirements and permissions for stakeholders escalating as necessary for example password resets.
  • Support the roll out of upgrades or new systems or applications.

The training you’ll be provided with:

  • Comprehensive introductory modules to technical concepts
  • Level 3 Information Communications Technician apprenticeship standard
  • Training for all pathways of your IT career (support technician, network technician, digital communications technician)
  • Specialising in a portfolio of evidence for the Support Technician pathway
  • e-learning training materials
  • Bi-weekly virtual classroom training on all options of the apprenticeships
  • Access to virtual labs to develop technical competency.
  • Monthly work-based coaches visits and competency checks.
  • 9 am – 5 pm Support desk for technical support
  • Personal Learning and Thinking Skills and Key Skills development.
  • Option for vendor and technical certificates- e.g. CompTIA

You will also have the opportunity to network with a range of other apprentices on our programme who can share ideas, offer suggestions and support. Our apprentices love being able to help each other!
As one of our apprentices you will also have access to our online portal that will provide you with information and technical guidance, as well as links to the helpdesk to speak to technicians who can give real-time advice and support.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

We require someone who is educated to GCSE standard English and Maths grade 4 (or above), or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths.
