Description

ICT Operations Manager

About Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki

Ngā Tamariki Puāwai o Tāmaki | Auckland Kindergarten Association (AKA) has supported early childhood education in Tāmaki Makaurau since 1908. Today, we operate 112 kindergartens and KiNZ centres, five playgroups and a dedicated Support Services team.

Our bicultural approach is grounded in Te Whāriki and our commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi. Tamariki and whānau are central to our work, and we strive to create inclusive learning environments where every tamaiti can develop confidence, curiosity and a lifelong love of learning.

Our values of kotahitanga, manaakitanga and whanaungatanga guide how we work together and serve our communities.

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced ICT Operations Manager to lead the delivery of reliable, secure and effective technology services across our organisation.

Reporting to the Fractional CIO, you will lead the ICT team and oversee the planning, implementation and ongoing management of AKA’s ICT infrastructure, systems and services. You will ensure our technology environment supports both our operational requirements and our wider purpose of delivering positive outcomes for tamariki and whānau.

This is a full time, permanent position based at our Support Services office in Auckland CBD. The role will also involve visiting our kindergartens and centres to understand the experiences and technology needs of our people.

What You Will Be Responsible For

In this role, you will:

  • Develop and deliver an ICT strategy that supports AKA’s organisational priorities
  • Oversee the security, reliability and performance of our ICT infrastructure
  • Manage the implementation, maintenance and upgrading of hardware, software and cloud based systems
  • Lead, support and develop the ICT team
  • Strengthen data security, privacy and compliance across the organisation
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders and external providers to deliver practical ICT solutions
  • Manage technology vendors, contracts, procurement and service performance
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, processes and the experience of technology users
  • Monitor emerging technologies and assess how they could add value to AKA

What You Will Bring

You will combine strong technical knowledge with practical leadership experience and the ability to work effectively across a diverse organisation.

To be successful, you will bring:

  • At least 10 years of ICT management experience, including leading ICT teams and delivering technology projects
  • Strong knowledge of ICT infrastructure, network management, cloud based systems and cybersecurity
  • A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or a related field
  • Relevant industry certifications, such as ITIL or CompTIA, would be an advantage
  • Demonstrated experience managing technology vendors, contracts and procurement
  • Sound analytical and problem solving skills, with the confidence to make well informed decisions
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills across technical and nontechnical stakeholder groups
  • A practical and results focused approach, with a commitment to continuous improvement
  • Experience within education, the public sector or a not for profit organisation would be advantageous
  • A full, clean New Zealand driver licence
