About the Role:


The ICT Systems Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, integration and sustainment of secure ICT infrastructure and enterprise systems supporting Defence, Government and Critical Infrastructure environments. Working across enterprise infrastructure, virtualised platforms and secure networks, the role delivers resilient, high-performing technology solutions throughout the system lifecycle, ensuring compliance with Defence security frameworks, engineering standards and customer requirements.


Based at our Jamisontown, NSW headquarters, you will work alongside experienced engineers, cyber security specialists and project teams to deliver mission-critical capability across infrastructure, systems integration and secure platforms. This role offers the opportunity to work with modern enterprise technologies in highly secure environments while developing your expertise through diverse projects, professional development and clear pathways into senior engineering, architecture and cyber security roles.


About the role:


- Design, implement and sustain secure ICT infrastructure and enterprise systems supporting Defence, Government and Critical Infrastructure environments.

- Develop, integrate and maintain Standard Operating Environments (SOEs), system builds and secure platform configurations in accordance with Defence security requirements, the ISM, Essential Eight and organisational engineering standards.

- Configure and support Microsoft Windows Server environments, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, Microsoft 365 and associated enterprise services.

- Design and administer virtualised infrastructure utilising VMware, Hyper-V or equivalent technologies to deliver highly available and resilient services.

- Deploy, configure and maintain cloud-enabled technologies and hybrid infrastructure across Microsoft Azure and other supported cloud platforms where applicable.

- Perform systems integration, verification, validation and acceptance testing to ensure capability meets operational and customer requirements.

- Administer enterprise storage, backup, disaster recovery and business continuity solutions to maintain service resilience and availability.

- Implement security hardening,

vulnerability remediation and system patch management activities to maintain compliance with Defence security requirements and industry best practice.

- Monitor system health, performance and capacity, proactively identifying and resolving issues before service impacts occur.

- Investigate and resolve complex infrastructure, network and application faults, performing root cause analysis and implementing permanent corrective actions.

- Produce and maintain change documentation including High-Level Designs (HLDs), Low-Level Designs (LLDs), build documentation, operating procedures and technical support guides.

- Participate in build reviews, change management, release management and configuration management activities throughout the system lifecycle.

- Support accreditation, compliance and audit activities, ensuring systems continue to meet security and governance requirements.

- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to junior engineers and project team members where required.

- Work collaboratively with architects, cyber security specialists, project managers and customer stakeholders to deliver secure, scalable and resilient ICT capabilities.

- Contribute to technology roadmaps, continuous improvement initiatives and engineering innovation to enhance capability, performance and operational effectiveness.

- Participate in operational support, maintenance windows and on-call activities as req.


About you:


- Australian Citizen (required for Defence projects).

- A min AGSVA NV1 clearance (Preferred).

- A qualification commensurate with your technical experience, or significant technical experience.

- Proficient understanding of ICT environments, with experience either as a Sys Admin, Systems Eng, WINTEL Eng, IT Infrastructure Eng or Platform Eng (highly desirable).

- Hands on experience working in complex ICT, Engineering or Technology integration environments (Highly regarded).

- Hands-on experience with system troubleshooting, patching, and performance tuning.

- Ability to work in high-pressure, secure ICT environments.

- Ability to work in an agile workplace.

- A strong level of commercial acumen and able to think outside the box.
