Position Summary

  • Under the direction of the Department Director and/or Charge Nurse, the Registered Nurse (RN) provides safe, effective, and patient-centered nursing care.
  • The RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the healthcare needs of all assigned patients across the lifespan—from infant to geriatric—unless otherwise indicated.
  • This role involves collaboration with the interdisciplinary care team and focuses on delivering high-quality care aligned with unit and hospital goals.
  • Must be flexible and willing to float to comparable nursing units as needed.

  • Strong knowledge of general nursing theories and practices
  • Ability to manage and teach others effectively
  • Demonstrates initiative and independent judgment within scope of practice
  • Sound decision-making in complex or high-pressure situations
  • Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
  • Professionalism, tact, and discretion when interacting with patients, families, and physicians
  • Adherence to confidentiality and HIPAA regulations
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including irregular shifts, weekends, and holidays
  • Capable of assuming Charge Nurse responsibilities when requested

Education & Certifications

  • Current, unrestricted RN license in the State of South Carolina
  • Successful completion of hospital-based nursing orientation program
  • IV Therapy training and/or demonstrated competency within one year of hire
  • Completion of annual Skills Fair and required departmental competency checklists
  • Current certifications in BCLS, ACLS, and PALS required
  • Advanced certification in specialty area and/or active membership in a professional organization strongly encouraged
