Responsibilities
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Reviews patient information to determine normal heart rhythm pattern, current pattern, and prior variances.
Observes screens of cardiac monitors and listens for alarm to identify abnormal variation in heart rhythm.
Informs RN caring for the patient in an urgent manner of variances in pattern. Provides shift report to staff caring for the patient as requested.
Completes appropriate documentation as required by standards.
Measures length and height of patient's heart rhythm pattern on graphic tape readout and posts information on patient records.
Triages ongoing appropriateness of tele services, discussing with supervisor.
Processes orders in an accurate and timely manner.
Answers the telephone and call lights appropriately and provides information or relays messages to patients and staff.
Successful completion of the Mercy Health System telemetry course.

Education and Experience
High School diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
Completion of Unit Clerk course or equivalent on the job training
Ability to read and interpret cardiac rhythms preferred

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to smell, stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
