Nau mai haere mai ki tā mātou whānau | Welcome to our Fulton Hogan Family We are seeking an Operations Manager to lead the delivery of exceptional outcomes across both routine, cyclic and programmed maintenance for our IDC contract with NZTA in the Manawatū and Whanganui regions. Commencing May 2026, our team will be responsible for undertaking carriageway repairs, pre-seal repairs, high shoulder maintenance, pre-seal repairs, managing potholes and signage, overseeing drainage and vegetation, and responding to emergencies—all contributing to enhanced service levels and increased resilience within our growing communities. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the contract, ensuring the effective delivery of cyclic and programmed maintenance activities. You will be accountable for coordinating and conducting regular inspection activities to maintain asset integrity and performance across the network. Building and maintaining strong working relationships with clients, internal teams, particularly those involved in asset management and contract administration. Your responsibilities will also include identifying opportunities for operational improvements, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory requirements, managing resources efficiently, and facilitating clear communication among all stakeholders to support the successful delivery of contract outcomes. In addition to the above you will: Contribute actively to forward works programme sequencing, aiming to maximise delivery efficiency and minimise disruption to road users, and propose optimisations where possible. Collaborate closely with the Principal and Programme Manager on programme approvals, design reviews, constructability feedback, pricing final designs, and ensuring quality outcomes. Manage contract meetings, promptly declare programme changes or delays, and work with relevant parties to resolve issues and opportunities. Ensure all required Consents, environmental management plans, and assurance measures are in place before work commencement; report and address any breaches and provide supporting evidence. We’re looking for someone with: Tertiary qualifications in engineering, construction management, asset management, or a related discipline Proven experience in contract operations, maintenance delivery, or asset management within the civil infrastructure industry Strong knowledge of cyclic and programmed maintenance activities, as well as inspection processes and standards Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with clients, asset management teams, and contract administrators Understanding of relevant safety, compliance, and regulatory requirements in the industry Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience in fostering positive working relationships Strong organisational skills, including effective resource management and problem-solving abilities.
