Nau mai haere mai ki tā mātou whānau | Welcome to our Fulton Hogan Family We’re seeking an experienced Pavement Supervisor to support the Maintenance Engineer under our newly secured IDC contract with NZTA across the Manawatū and Whanganui regions. In this role, you’ll be responsible for planning and organising pavement works to be delivered safely, efficiently, and to a high standard, ensuring the right people, plant, and materials are in place. You’ll lead multiple operational crews and may at times be hands-on, providing day-to-day supervision, guidance, and support. Working closely with the Maintenance Engineer, you’ll help plan programmes, set realistic targets, and drive performance, while actively developing your team and taking ownership of both people and plant to keep staff motivated and equipment well maintained. In addition to the above you will: Lead safe work practices and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all company and legislative requirements. Provide visible onsite leadership, supervising crews and driving productivity, teamwork, and adherence to programmes and standards. Plan and coordinate resources and project delivery so work is well sequenced, safely resourced, and completed on time and to specification. Monitor quality, productivity, and costs, implementing corrective actions as needed to deliver efficient, high-quality, and profitable outcomes. Develop and support your team, maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships, keep accurate records, and contribute to continuous improvement. We’re looking for someone with: Minimum 5 years’ experience in paving and civil construction projects, with solid knowledge of paving techniques, materials, equipment, and related safety practices. Proven supervisory and leadership experience, with the ability to motivate, guide, and inspire teams to achieve quality, safety, and productivity goals. Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to build effective working relationships and interact professionally with stakeholders at all levels. Strong organisational and time management skills, with a focus on prioritisation and problem-solving in a fast-paced, site-based environment. Current Class 2 licence with W, T, R endorsements, First Aid certificate, and other relevant licences or certifications as required. Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including being physically capable of lifting heavy objects and operating equipment as needed.
