Job Details Job Location: YFT Bristow HQ - Bristow, VA 20136 Position Type: Full Time Job Description Role and Responsibilities Oversee physical care of YFT Immigrant Foster Care children while on campus Meet and greet Foster Care parent and coordinate drop off and/or pick up for foster care children Support IFC teacher in the supervision and care of children and other children attending classes for students ages 6-12 Coordinate doctors appointments on and off campus and ensure IFC students make it to appointments support foster care children, who are on campus during non-school days in the home and coordinate with foster parents the drop off and/or pick up of foster care children from a home on campus help students develop acceptable habits and attitudes management of IFC student behavior assist in meeting goal and objectives of any required service plan responsible for guidance and supervision of ifc students/children to whom they are assigned Accurately collect, review, and analyze waive testing of IFC students after home visits, AWOL, and as needed Work effectively with the Treatment Team and other internal and external stakeholders Maintain a stable environment Maintain the integrity of the program structure in the absence of the House Coordinator Leadership Attend all training mandated by YFT and continuously pursue training opportunities to meet standards set forth all duties and responsibilities will support meeting the structured program of care outlined in dbhds and dss state standards (dbhds: 12VAC 35-46-800; DSS: 22VAC 40-151-720). other duties assigned by the CEO, Director of program services, or supervisor Required trainings: First aid/cpr; handle with care; standard precautions, emergency preparedness; shaken baby; mandatory reporting, prevention of sexual abuse, and a minimum of 25 hours of job specific related training. . Core Competencies Knowledge and understanding of YFT mission and values; Possess the characteristics and experience to collaborate with and provide appropriate care to IFC students, gain their respect, guide their development, and participated in their overall treatment program; Ability to support constructive IFC student-family visitation and IFC student involvement in community activities; Ability to provide services in a culturally and linguistically competent manner; Possess the temperament to work and care for children, and youth, some with special needs in multiple age ranges; Ability to maintain safety, security, and structure at all times Ability to maintain physical and mental capacities to aid IFC students and families with mental health behavioral issue Ability to use trauma-informed practices Qualifications Qualifications and Education Requirements: Individuals hired on or before September 29, 2014 (grandfathered): Associates degree and three months experience working with children; OR High School graduate or have a General Education Development Certificate (GED) and six months experience working with children. Individuals hired on or after September 30, 2014: Bachelors Degree in Human Services is required OR actively, continuously pursuing the degree and able to provide evidence of such; OR High School Diploma or General Education Development Certificate (GED) and six months experience working with children AND Enroll and successfully complete assigned training and Certification Program for development in our milieu of care within 18 month of hire date. Qualifications Age 21 or above as per state regulations and standards Demonstrate medication management protocols Obtain and maintain a valid drivers license which meets or exceeds YFTs insurance guidelines
Responsibilities
The IFC Residential Counselor oversees the physical care of immigrant foster care children and coordinates with foster parents for drop-off and pick-up.
