Learn more about our flexible approach to where we work. Overview About the role - We are seeking an Associate illustrator to join Instacart’s Creative Studio inside the Marketing Department. You will be on the brand team and report directly to the Senior Group Creative Lead. The ideal candidate has a command of their craft, a deep knowledge of how brand strategy applies to illustration, and an excitement for storytelling through illustration. An Instacart Associate Illustrator translates complex concepts into simple, original illustrations. They will refine artwork using tools like Figma and Adobe Illustrator to build the company's illustration style and design system across various in-app placements and use cases. Key responsibilities include developing sketches and final assets, collaborating with design and product teams, and ensuring visual consistency and alignment with brand guidelines. About the Job Collaborates closely with creative teammates and product design teammates. Implements the brand illustration style across touchpoints. Illustrate primarily for in-app moments, with room to stretch into illustration for campaigns, go-to-markets, performance assets, shopper marketing and organic social. Seamlessly collaborate with design leads on brand and performance marketing. About You You can adapt the brand style to a variety of concepts. You are a great communicator, able to describe visual rationale. You are iterative and collaborative in the way you work. You love illustration and storytelling. You can multitask and self-manage with little to no supervision. You are naturally curious and see opportunity in everything. You are hungry, self-motivated, and thrive on constructive feedback. You are a creative problem solver, overcoming challenges and striving to develop original and effective visual concepts. Minimum Qualifications You have a bachelor's degree in graphic design or a related field or a robust portfolio of creative work. You have 5+ years of professional experience in design or a related creative role. Experience with hand and digital illustration techniques, especially watercolor. Key skills required are creativity, excellent communication, time management, and proficiency with design software like: Adobe Creative Cloud, Figma, and Google Slides. Understanding of core artistic concepts, including typography, layout, and color theory. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design. Experience with developing illustrations across multiple mediums (web, mobile, print). #LI-Remote Instacart provides highly market-competitive compensation and benefits in each location where our employees work.
