Description
As a Camera Architect within the Meta Reality Labs team, you will lead the definition and development of camera and sensing technology architectures against product requirements to architecture down-selection. You will support the progression of our camera technologies through their product lifecycle in partnership with cross-functional teams as critical contributors through difficult risks, challenges, and program learnings. You will nurture and grow our camera and sensing roadmaps in support of north star product visions, synthesizing inputs from across the organization into a cohesive strategy. This role will work across teams, brainstorming big ideas and developing new technology. The individual in this role will thrive in ambiguity to map complex trade spaces to the details that matter for the user experience. You will partner closely with Product Management, Experiences and Image Quality teams to understand critical use cases and distill them into module requirements and product design teams to seek out globally optimum hardware integrations. The role requires technical communication up and down the product stack including with component and module teams within the Camera and Sensor community at Meta as well as with cross-functional teams including ID, hardware engineering, software, partnerships, and supply chain. Responsibilities Lead architecture within a product segment, including development of photo/video, contextual AI, computer vision, etc. camera modules Drive multi-generation strategies and roadmap for camera development Collaborate with teams to brainstorm and develop new technology ideas Map complex trade spaces to relevant details for product development Transition concepts into prototypes and envision high-volume consumer products Define and converge leading camera systems that push beyond current consumer systems in constrained form factors Communicate technical details, risks, and pathways to success across a product stack and with cross-functional teams Minimum Qualifications BS or MS in Optics, Physics, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field 8+ years of product or module development experience in cameras or other optical systems Experience designing, building, and shipping cameras, sensors, and/or opto-electronics Communication experience at the intersection of optical design teams, product development engineers, software teams, and product managers Demonstrated experience synthesizing architectural tradeoffs and leading data-driven program decisions across technical and non-technical cross-functional teams Preferred Qualifications Experience with physics-based end-to-end camera module simulations for photo, video and contextual AI use cases to predict and validate camera performance Knowledge of camera optics, sensor modeling, ISP pipelines, and Image Quality tuning Experience programming in Python, Matlab and/or C++ Cross-functional engagement experience with partner technology teams including software, calibration, image quality, product managers, etc $173,000/year to $245,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
