Description

The Imaging Assistant performs variety of administrative duties including but not limited to computer work, telephone communication, faxing reports, facilitating supply requisitions and processing medical records and documenting therein as appropriate. Performs a variety of clinical responsibilities include escorting patients to and from dressing areas, assisting with positioning of patients for exams as needed, stocking supplies in exam room, film printing, matching films and hanging films.   • All phone report/film requests are accurately completed, pulls correct films and sends with courier service and produces film copies of high quality as evidenced by lack of complaints voiced by physicians/patients.
  • Film for appropriately prepared for interpretation, film is hung and cases to be read on mammobase are entered into appropriate software at all times.
  • Escorts Patients properly and safely escorted, checks patients for proper ID, checks order on chart before bringing patient to dressing area and if needed, assists patient with undressing/dressing at all times.

  • Assistance is provided to the Radiologist to troubleshoot any issues during the reading session as needed.
  • Transcriptions are checked several times a day for reports to be distributed to physicians, Coordinator, and patient jackets; dictated reports from mammobase are printed out and correctly placed on charts daily.
  • Looks up Schedule for screening mammograms is verified and films from other facilities are requested as needed as evidenced by outside films being available before exam for radiologist review at all times.
  • Assistance is provided to physicians with films, reports or locating Radiologists, ensuring that the physicians needs are promptly met as evidenced by lack of complaints from either physicians or Radiologists.

  • Releases to send or obtain films from outside facilities are obtained following established guidelines at all times.

  • Films from previous exams are retrieved and followed up with on scheduled patients 100% of the time.
  • Receives and checks in film back into Center. Returns all outside film used in consultation correctly and in a timely manner. Measurement: Receives, documents, and files all films. Documents return of records appropriately.
  • All films to be mailed are pulled and packaged for pick up by courier; Keeps an accurate log of all film jackets that leave the Center for outside consultation and their return at all times.
