Join our Imaging Services team at UPMC Somerset! As a Tech Assistant, you will support the performance of a variety of technical procedures under the supervision of a registered technologist. This role requires independent judgment and a basic understanding of technology, anatomy, and physiology to ensure quality patient care in a timely, cost-effective manner. Responsibilities: Transport patients to and from imaging units as needed. Demonstrate proper IV catheter placement and follow GFR criteria guidelines. Assist with invasive procedure tray setup and courier specimens to the lab. Practice established MRI and radiation safety protocols. Accurately schedule and reschedule exams in the Radiology Information System (RIS); contact patients for additional scanning when necessary. Support technologists with patient care and workflow; maintain knowledge of procedural processes. Verify patient identity using at least two identifiers and prepare patients for exams, providing pre- and post procedure education. Document patient history in the electronic record and review physician orders, contacting offices for clarification when needed. Completion of High school diploma or equivalent. Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances: Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal Act 33 with renewal Act 34 with renewal Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal UPMC is an Equal Opportunity Employer/Disability/Veteran
