Make a Difference The Imaging Student Extern works under the direction of an Imaging Technologist and performs direct and indirect patient care. Direct patient care can include assisting technologist with preparing and screening patient for exam, positioning and performance of exam, as requested. Indirect patient care can include documentation; assist to reinforce patient/family education, stocking supplies, room turnover, and patient transportation/escort. Collaborates with other team members to perform other services as directed. Exceptional Skills and Qualifications · Must be currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technology program. Establishes and maintains a safe environment, room organized and free of fall hazards, conducive to effective team functioning, positive patient outcomes, and personal safety Assists Care Team with patient care under the direct supervision of the Imaging Technologist(s) Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computer systems that support the Medical Imaging Department, including EMR, PACS (and affiliated PACS features), and phlebotomy Provides patient specimens to Pathology and Laboratory when requested Answer phone calls for the imaging department and monitor voicemail Transition patients from portable oxygen tank to flow meter and vice versa with no adjustment to the amount of oxygen delivered Escort patients with outpatient procedures to and from the imaging department. Transport patients to and from Emergency Department Instruct and assist patients for exam/procedure preparation (i.e. - changing clothes, using restroom, completing screening/questionnaire forms, etc.) Position patients on the exam table Assist with room turnover (i.e. - cleaning, linen, stocking, trash removal) Perform phlebotomy as needed Start and discontinue temporary IV access as required Perform eGFR POC testing Establish temporary IV access
