UPMC Mercy is seeking a full-time Imaging Support Specialist to join our Radiology Support team! The Imaging Support Specialist will work daylight hours, with start times between 6:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., Monday through Friday! No weekends, on-call, or holidays required! This role provides clerical support to our dynamic Imaging Services Department, with a variety of responsibilities including patient check-in/registration, imaging test preparation, and patient and order documentation. Additionally, this role will provide exceptional customer service support to our patients and visitors! Now is an exciting time to join our expanding, team-oriented Imaging Department! Responsibilities: Answers and transfers telephone calls to appropriate parties, faxes information, conducts appointment reminder calls, and documents and conveys messages, as needed. Manages stat exams by obtaining reports and forwarding or calling the results to the appropriate physician. Places orders for film and CD printing of exams. Documents film sign-outs, checking patient identification when releasing films or CDs, and packages exams that need to be mailed. Enters accurate orders for x-ray exams. Arrives patients using appropriate tracking screen, and verifies patient identification using at least 2 patient identifiers before placing the correct wristbands on patients. Uses Radiology Information Systems to verify the correct physician order, location, and correct exam ordered. Prepares registration paperwork and wristbands for the following day. Collects co-payments per policy and protocol. Performs other duties, as assigned. High School diploma or equivalent required. Business training and/or previous office experience preferred, including typing and filing. Previous customer service experience preferred. Familiarity with anatomical and medical terminology preferred.
