Position Summary: OceanX Education is seeking an Immersive / Realtime Mixed Reality Intern to support the creation of VR, AR, and interactive experiences that inspire and educate audiences about the ocean. This role offers exposure to cutting-edge immersive technology, including photogrammetry, game-ready assets, and engines such as Unreal Engine/UEFN, and involves collaboration with designers, educators, scientists, and gaming studios. The intern will contribute to projects from concept development to final execution, including location-specific experiences aboard the OceanXplorer and across platforms like Meta, Apple Vision Pro, Fortnite, and Roblox. This is a paid opportunity. This program will run from June through August and involves working approximately 40 hours per week. This opportunity operates in a hybrid work schedule in our Singapore office to allow for in-person meetings/collaboration. This role will require availability to overlap across time zones between our NY and Singapore offices. OceanX Education pursues its mission through a consultative, founder-partnered approach, shaping programs that align with the founder’s vision while achieving strategic and meaningful outcomes. Position Location: Singapore Duties and Responsibilities: Research and experiment with emerging spatial computing technologies to advance immersive ocean storytelling. Collaborate with OceanXplorer scientific missions to create location-specific VR/AR experiences based on real expeditions. Work with the OceanX Digital Programs team to deliver VR and AR experiences across devices such as Meta Quest, Apple Vision Pro, and other supported hardware platforms. Utilize tools such as Unreal Engine and blueprint visual scripting to create interactive experiences. Develop interactive location-based exhibits for museums. Create education-focused experiences in Fortnite and Roblox, optimizing existing OceanX assets for these platforms. Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Professional Experience: Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Digital Media, Computer Science, Game Design, Spatial Computing, or related fields. Experience with Unreal Engine and creating VR/AR experiences across Meta, Apple Vision Pro, or handheld AR devices. Strong collaboration and communication skills to work with designers, developers, educators, and scientists. Experience with Fortnite/UEFN is a plus. Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a small, fast-moving team. Willingness to support on-site program operations, including aboard a vessel.
